About

Erika

Hi, I'm Erika!

chillest photographer ever 😎

I’m a wedding, event + portrait photographer born, raised, and living in the suburbs of New Jersey, but at my absolute happiest when I’m in a cabin in the woods somewhere. My husband just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary (!!!!) and we built our relationship on road trips and weekend getaways to upstate NY, eventually getting engaged and also married there.. it's our happy place. We now have three little (very silly) kids, who we’re totally obsessed with and think are the best humans ever, though we’re probably a little biased. I’m so lucky.

I'm so proud to be a small business owner for 10+ years and able to provide personal, one-on-one experiences to all my clients. Erika Koop Photography, LLC was officially established in 2014 after I began photographing weddings and families in 2012. From 2008-2015, I worked in NYC as an event photographer and photo editor at the World Trade Center with Silverstein Properties. I graduated with honors from Muhlenberg College in 2008, double majoring in studio art and anthropology.

Dislikes: Conflict, cancer, humidity, being sweaty, popcorn, people who lack empathy, disorganization, not getting enough sleep, taking life too seriously, wasting time, cheesy wedding photography trends

WORKING WITH ME...

My photography is vibrant, happy, and relaxed and I want my clients photography experience to be easy-going and natural. My documentary shooting style and true-to-color editing style create timeless images that show a lot of smiles and a whole lot of happiness. As a small business, I personally handle everything beginning to end, so you'll be working with me directly through the entire process.

Taking beautiful, real photos is obviously the overall goal, but my highest priorities are also clear communication, organization, and comprehensive planning to provide my clients with the best possible experience and photos they envision. I strive for all my people to feel taken care of, valued, and like they are working with a friend, who has their back 100%.

A wedding is a celebration, not a performance. If at the end of the day you are married to the one you love, then everything went perfectly.

WHAT my clients and I have in commoN...

🌿 And we love spending time outdoors!

FUN FACTS

I'm tall, 5'11"! My height comes in super handy at weddings, especially if my couples are tall as well!

I've always been an athlete. I played soccer, basketball, ran track, and swam all through high school. In college, I was on the track team and competed in a bunch of events, but high jump was always my favorite. I also took horseback riding lessons for about 10 years! I recently began skiing and it's definitely my new favorite sport. (Farm weddings and mountain weddings, yes please!)

FOOD! There are very few foods I don't like and always down to try something new. Exploring local restaurants while traveling is always a must, especially if there's good seafood! My husband and I had an extended cocktail hour at our wedding, because that's always our favorite part when we're guests... appetizers while catching up with friends!

I also have a major sweet tooth, chocolate chip cookies and cookie dough ice cream will forever and always be my favorite desserts, I'd eat French toast for every breakfast if I could.. so if you choose to work with me, you can definitely expect to receive some sweet treats along the way!

In my free time, spending quality time with my family is my #1 priority! You can usually find us somewhere outdoors.. relaxing in our backyard, getaways to upstate NY, day-trips around the Hudson Valley, exploring farmers markets, state fairs or parks, wherever we can wander around with the kids and have some fun!

A few of my other favorite activities are reading, rewatching The Office, swimming, baking, drawing, date nights with my husband, and snuggling my kiddos.
